Sarah Gibson MP uses maiden speech to demand railway stations in Corsham and Royal Wootton Bassett
Chippenham’s Liberal Democrat MP, Sarah Gibson, has today made her maiden speech in a debate on building safety and resilience. In the speech, Ms Gibson raised:
- The need for railway stations in Corsham and in Royal Wootton Bassett
- NHS dental provision and access to GPs, including the need for a health centre in Calne
During the speech, Sarah Gibson MP explained:
“Chippenham sits in Wiltshire in the South West of England. And we have a proud industrial heritage, with Mills originally reliant on the River Avon and later on the Great Western Railway, with its many impressive tunnels and viaducts.
"This railway currently only stops in Chippenham; I will spend the next few years demanding that Corsham and Royal Wootton Bassett are also in receipt of stations.
“Quality employment and prosperity came with the railway when it was built and access to transport is equally important to growth in this area today; it will play a vital part in my constituency’s future as an innovation hub.”
